THIEPVAL WOOD TOUR - A PRIVATELY ARRANGED VISIT - SEE EXCAVATED 1916 FRONT LINE TRENCHES

THIEPVAL MEMORIAL AND BRAND NEW MUSEUM AND VISITORS CENTRE

IT IS MANAGED BY THE HISTORIAL, MUSEUM OF THE GREAT WAR, AND SUPPORTED BY A FRANCO-BRITISH COMMITTEE. A SCREENING ROOM SHOWS THREE FILMS: SOMME IN THE GREAT WAR, MEMORY AND THIEPVAL. THREE COMPUTER DATABASES ARE AVAILABLE TO VISITORS WISHING TO RESEARCH SOLDIERS WHO DIED IN THE WAR OR LOCATE A CEMETERY OR MEMORIAL.

THE BATTLE OF HAMEL (4 JULY 1918) WAS A SUCCESSFUL ATTACK BY AUSTRALIAN ARMY AND US ARMY INFANTRY, SUPPORTED BY BRITISH TANKS, AGAINST GERMAN POSITIONS IN AND AROUND THE TOWN OF LE HAMEL

VILLIERS BRETTONEAUX AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL MEMORIAL - CLIMB THE TOWER AND SEE THE STUNNING VIEWS ACROSS THE BATTLEFIELDS.

THURSDAY 18 MAY

TRAVEL TO CALAIS FOR THE SHUTTLE HOME BACK TO THE UK
